CARE OF STERLING SILVER


Sterling silver is a precious metal and may require cleaning from time to time. Using a silver polishing cloth, gently rub the silver piece several times. This will remove the tarnish and brighten up any dullness, keeping your sterling like new. Please note chlorine and bleach accelerate tarnishing and should be avoided. We recommend taking your silver jewellery off when cleaning, gardening or swimming.

CARE OF PEARLS


Pearls should be kept free of perfumes, cosmetics, perspiration and dirt. You may gently wipe pearls with a slightly damp cloth. As a general rule, pearl jewellery pieces should be the first items taken off when undressing for the day and the last items put on before starting the day.  Perfume and hair spray should be applied before adorning your pearls as they can damage the nacre.

CARE OF WHITE GOLD

Keep your white gold jewellery away from harsh chemicals such as chlorine and cleaning fluids. Over time rhodium plating may wear away, especially on the base of rings or on claws, which tend to take most of the wear. SIMPLE CLEANING STEPS FOR A DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING

  • Heat a cup of warm to hot water.

  • Once heated, place water into a coffee mug.

  • Add a small squirt of dish-washing detergent.

  • Place your engagement ring into the mug and soak for 10- 15 minutes.

  • With a soft brush or tooth brush gently brush over your piece.

  • Place your piece in a small kitchen strainer and rinse under cold water.

  • With a tissue or lint-free cloth pat dry your ring ready for wear. 

CLEANING STEPS FOR A COLOURED GEMSTONE PIECE.

  • Heat a cup of warm water. (Warm to touch not boiling or hot).

  • Once warmed, place water into a small bowl or mug.

  • Add some mild soap into the water and mix to create a soapy warm water mixture.

  • With a soft brush or tooth brush gently rub over your piece with your soapy warm water mixture.

  • Place your piece in a small kitchen strainer and rinse under cold water. If you don’t have a small strainer cover your sink’s drain with a rubber mat to ensure safety of any gemstones that may become loose whilst cleaning.

  • With a tissue or lint-free cloth pat dry your jewellery ready for wear.
